It serves as the central coordinator promoting participation and facilitating the growth of industry players in the development of Malaysia’s Halal ecosystem. HDC is an agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) and is recognized as the world’s first government-backed halal industry development corporation.  HDC plays a pivotal role in enhancing the halal industry by implementing various initiatives, fostering growth, and ensuring the implementation of halal standards across different sectors. They also aim to increase the number of companies obtaining halal certification and have set ambitious targets for improving the halal economy in Malaysia by 2030.
